It was here, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, that our story began. In the 1990s, long before Bullet Solutions had a name, we were already researching smarter ways to solve one of the most complex problems in academic life: building timetables.
Out of operations research, optimization algorithms and a great many real-world constraints came the knowledge that would give rise to Bullet Solutions in 2006. We have taken that scientific heritage far beyond this building since — but our roots are still here, in Porto.
Automated timetabling for educational institutions has been extensively studied in the scientific community for over 60 years, with hundreds of published studies featuring various formulations and solution techniques. However, many of these studies were based on simplified models with limited practical applicability.
From the beginning, Bullet Solutions' approach has been centered on balancing scientific research with the resolution of real-world scenarios in the Higher Education market. Our research has always been oriented toward concrete cases, focusing on real problems and applicable solutions.
